The Inside Scoop on a High-Fat Diet

High fat diets promote higher muscle glycogen stores than do low fat diets. As a result, horses utilize more fatty acids and triglycerides than glycogen for energy production at rest. This allows more glycogen to be available for energy production during exercise, thereby delaying the onset of fatigue.

Benefits to Your Horse

equinePOWER®’s high-fat energy reduces health risks associated with carbohydrate-based energy feeds such as:

  • Laminitis
  • Tying-up (Equine Exertional Rhabdomyolysis)
  • Horses becoming too hot or excited
  • Excessive gut weight
  • Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome
  • Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS)

At the same time, equinePOWER®’s strong Omega-3 profile adds many equine health benefits:

  • Joint and tissue support
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increased endurance
  • Reduced production of cytokines
  • Improved reproductive performance
